The Importance of Animal Knowers and Teachers
In her presentation, Dr. Kelsey Dayle John (Navajo) will describe the importance of building research and education practices that reflect the integrity of human/land/animal relationships in Indigenous worldviews. A horse woman for over 20 years, and a professor of Gender and Women’s and American Indian Studies, Kelsey reflects on how Western research foundations separate Indigenous persons from our nonhuman teachers and what we can do to reconnect with these relationships.
