Molly works with a student in a prior workshop. |
On Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20, come study the art form of ash and sweetgrass basketmaking with renowned Passamaquoddy basketmaker, Molly Neptune Parker. Parker has been
making baskets since she was 7 years old. In 2012, she was named a
National Heritage Fellow by the National Endowment for the Arts.
Parker has taught all of her children and most of her grandchildren how
to weave, and has taught many tribal members across the country how to
practice this once endangered art form. Students in this class will
have an opportunity to work with Molly and weave their own beautiful
creation from start to finish. A
two-day workshop, from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm each day,
participants must attend both days in order to complete their basket.
